The Office of the General Registrar and Electoral Board of Pittsylvania County strives to promote the highest level of service to the commonwealth citizens by providing equitable opportunities to register and vote; and maintaining accurate records relating to voter registration, and elections, election officials, and candidates. We are committed to promoting democracy and public trust in our endeavors to ensure fair and impartial elections.

| First day of in-person early voting at your local registrar's office: Friday, September 23, 2022 Deadline to register to vote or update an existing registration: October 17, 2022. Deadline to apply for a ballot to be mailed to you: October 28, 2022. Your local voter registration office must receive your request by 5:00 p.m. Voter registration offices open for early voting: Saturday, October 29, 2022. The last day of in-person early voting at your local voter registration office: Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. See who is on your ballot by viewing the candidate lists. Any registered voter may vote early in person on a voting machine at the Election and Training Center, located at the 18 Depot Street (Route 57 W) in downtown, Chatham. Early Voting beginning 45 days before every election, including the 2 Saturdays prior to election day as well.
- How do I apply for an absentee ballot?

If you have a Virginia issued Driver’s License or State ID, you may complete an absentee application online. Visit vote.elections.virginia.gov/VoterInformation. Follow the prompts to apply to vote absentee by mail.

Call 434-432-7971 to request an application be mailed to you.
The deadline to apply for a ballot by mail is 11 days prior to Election Day.
- How do military and overseas voters apply for an absentee ballot?

All military and overseas citizens should complete the Federal Post Card Application (FPCA) to request an absentee ballot. Additional information for military and overseas voters can be found on the State Board of Elections website.

Here are just a few of the highlights from the 2020 EAVS:
- This election saw the highest turnout of any federal general election recorded by EAVS to date with 67.7% of the citizen voting-age population casting ballots that were counted.
- More than 209 million people were active registered voters for the 2020 general election and more than 161 million voters cast ballots that were counted for this election.
- 30.5% of voters cast their ballots in-person on Election Day, and 43.1% of the electorate cast their ballots utilizing vote by mail.
- States reported a total of 132,556 polling places where 775,101 poll workers assisted voters with in-person early and Election Day voting.
- The percentage of poll workers ages 18 to 25 and 26 to 40 increased to 6.2% and 15.0%, respectively.
- The percentage of poll workers ages 61 to 70 and 71 and older decreased to 27.3% and 20.1%, respectively.
