- Absentee Voting begins 45 days before every election, it is available to those who cannot vote on Election Day for various reasons.
- Absentee Voting is offered office Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
- Primary Elections will also be open on the Saturday before the Election from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- General Elections we will be open on the last two Saturdays prior to each election from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Download the Virginia Absentee Ballot Application (PDF) and or visit the Virginia Department of Elections website to complete all fields, including the applicable reason and all requested personal information. You must sign your application and submit it to Voter Registration, 110 Old Chatham Elementary Lane, Chatham, VA 24531. You may contact our office at 434-432-7971 to have an Absentee Ballot Application mailed to you.
Your completed Absentee Ballot Application may be returned by mail or fax no later than 5 p.m. on Tuesday the week before the election.
If you vote in person at our office at 110 Old Chatham Elementary Lane, you may bring your unsigned completed form or fill out a form in our office. Your signature will need to be witnessed if you vote in person. The deadline for absentee voting in person is 5 p.m. the Saturday before the election.
Military & Overseas Citizens
All military and overseas citizens should complete the Federal Post Card Application (FPCA) to request an absentee ballot. Additional information for military and overseas voters can be found on the State Board of Elections website.
