Pittsylvania County has recently purchased the ES&S 200 Optical Scan Voting System and will be using it for the first time in all precincts on November 5, 2013.
The State of Virginia determined several years ago that when it was necessary to replace the voting system that localities would no longer be able to purchase new DRE (touchscreen) systems. Any new equipment would be an optical scan voting system, which is a paper ballot filled out by the voter and inserted by the voter into a scanner.
If anyone is interested in seeing the new machine, they may come by our office during regular business hours - Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
