Board of Supervisors hold productive Tuesday meeting

Star Tribune honored

The Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors had a busy afternoon and evening of meetings on Tuesday. Some of the highlights included:
  • Passing a resolution proposing several, more equitable funding options between Pittsylvania and Franklin Counties for Cool Branch Volunteer Fire and Rescue Departments. Franklin County has until Dec. 1 to make its decision. You can read more about that here
  • Presenting a certificate of excellence to the Chatham Star Tribune honoring our trusted community paper for being recognized as the best weekly paper in the state by the Virginia Press Association. Jeremy Moser, one of the reporters from the Star Tribune, received the award.
  • Receiving two achievement awards from the Virginia Association of Counties (VACO) for the Pittsylvania Pet Center's Doggie Bag Thrift Store and regional food pantry—two examples of the innovation of the Pet Center's staff.
