Due to COVID-19 exposures, both the Pittsylvania County Treasurer and Commissioner of the Revenue offices will be closed to the public until Dec. 9. Both offices are undergoing deep cleaning while employees are getting tested and contact tracing efforts are underway. Accommodations are being made to allow employees to complete as much work as possible remotely until the offices can safely reopen on December 10.
"Pittsylvania County remains committed to ensuring continuity of services for our citizens while also providing a safe working environment for our employees," said Pittsylvania County Administrator David Smitherman.
Despite the departments being closed to the public, citizens will still have access to the services that these departments provide. Citizens looking to pay their taxes with the Treasurer's Office can pay online, via mail (P.O. Box 230 Chatham, VA 24531), by calling 800-272-9829, or by using one of the drop boxes located outside the Courthouse. In-person payments are not being accepted while the offices are closed to the public. Citizens who need to speak with someone can reach the Commissioner of the Revenue at 434-432-7940 or the Treasurer at 434-432-7960.
Both offices are located inside the Pittsylvania County Courthouse, but no other departments located in the building are believed to have been exposed.
